Part 1 (of 2) of my Doctor Who-themed wands. It’s based on the Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver (David Tennant, whoo!!) Well, it’s more of a sonic wand. Doesn’t “avada kedavra,” doesn’t “crucio,” doesn’t “stupefy.” But I’ll tell you what it does do. It is very good at “alohomora.” The wand is hand-carved from a wood dowel (don’t know the species) and painted. I’ve labeled it as “yew,” “phoenix tail feather,” 10”. Yes, it’s nearly the same as Voldy’s, but it does make sense. Yew is associated with birth and death, as is the life cycle of the phoenix, which is exemplified in the Doctor’s regenerations. I’ve also heard good arguments for hawthorn, though. 10” is a reference to a few things: 1. the wand is based on the 10th Doctor’s sonic screwdriver, 2. The Tenth Doctor was played by David TENnant, and 3. David Tennant’s nickname was said on a British talk show to be “David Ten-inch.” Yeah. Edit: I’ve had a few people ask “does it do wood?” and I suppose the answer would be yes, since it’s Time Lord tech + Wizarding World magic.
